Smart move … Denver to Austin?

My boyfriend and I recently visited the Austin area (including Roundrock, Georgetown and the region near Lake Travis). We are young (late 20's and early 30), the setting, the intention of getting married and childless. This is a software engineer and I'm healthy (OT). And we're looking for a change (especially after last winter CO). I still want a lifestyle that is similar to that of CO in the spring / summer (climate warm, many outdoor activities, delicious dining decent nightlife, etc..) saw home prices and found it much cheaper (even if not sure how the work of property taxes). Knowledge and advice of any Coloradoan who moved to Austin would be great. But there are signs of the population local is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I moved from Dallas to Boulder. Land tax in Texas over Colorado are high. But the general cost of living and the amount of housing you can get here is huge. So much cheaper to live in Texas. No state tax and register a vehicle in Texas costs almost nothing. In all honesty, they were so happy to leave Texas. I hated the time. But if we get back, Austin is the place. It is similar to the Boulder lifestyle wise. For me, the heat and humidity is unbearable and there are no mountains:) It was a great price shock to move here in Dallas. Thus, in our experience, while things like property taxes can be outrageous here, everything is much cheaper. Good luck with your decision!
