Live music in Austin: Where and when to go
Austin, Texas, is well known for his music. In fact, Austin is the capital " live music in the world. "Austin is home to the famous Austin City Limits Festival South by Southwest Festival, to name a few local music events. If you have never experienced the crowded Austin music scene and not sure where to start, here are some places to try. Whatever your musical taste is, Austin has something to offer for everyone.
1. Antone's
Antone is the best destination for live music in town. There are blues acts playing every night in the room and legends like Joe Ely and Jimmy Vaughan. Open 1975, which began as a blues club and launched in country music and rock. It has hosted some major events, such as Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello and BB King. Antone's is located at 213 W. 5 th street.
2. Stubb's Bar-BQ
Stubb's Bar-BQ is a restaurant most popular and concert halls in Austin. There is a small local music scene and a large outdoor stage, in addition to the restaurant. Indie and alternative rock is name of the game at Stubb's with artists like Cake, Yeah Yeahs Year and recent appearances by Imogen Heap. If you go to Stubb sure to arrive early because the site fill up quickly! Stubb's is located at 801 Red River Road.
3. Continental Club
This place has been around 1957 and has grown from a burlesque club to a live music venue. The Continental Club is dedicated to the swing, rockabilly, country and retro music roots. It has many great local artists, but also a talent more stop. It is located at 1315 S. Congress Avenue.
4. Momo
If you are looking for a place close to hear eclectic live performances, look no further than Momo. It is located at 618 W. Calle 6 and you can hear some R & B to rock and folk to pop. To visit, you will go to the second floor – is just above Katz Deli. You can choose to sit at the bar or in front of the stage. There is also a terrace where you can enjoy the night sky while listening to music.
5. Bass Concert Hall
Located on the campus of the University of Texas, Bass Concert Hall is home to dozens of symphonies and dance every year. You can also find great music make this like Seal, Bonnie Raitt and James Taylor. It's Calle 23 and Robert Dedman Drive.
6. Lucky Lounge
This chic club in the city has plenty of seating options to give the public a sound experience varied. It is not standing near the stage, stools, chairs and a raised area behind the bar. Billiards tables are also available. The reservations agent for this club has a great taste of local bands and offers a variety of different genres of music.
This list is scratching the surface of what is available in Austin. Whether are visiting or a local looking for greater visibility of the music scene, you can start with one of these places.
