Probably the most famous group of Austin, and visitors, Barton Springs Pool is located near the neighborhood Barton Hills. The pool is located on 3 acres of beautiful hill with a nice shallow end for children, and a more profound for those who have made their fleet and as others who want to swim a lap or two. The pool is a natural source, and was named in 1837 by William "Uncle Billy" Barton, owner of the parcel of land which includes the docks. Once the area became a city park in 1917, residents began to flow into the fresh spring water, which on average 68 degrees year round.
Watching the world go to Barton Springs is phenomenal. All walks of life enjoy the pool, tattooed bohemian types, to legislators, and everyone in between, with a string of topless sunbathing in 1970. The diving board in the middle of the pool provides hours of entertainment for divers and spectators break into applause for a triple flip flop or belly.

What was once a swimming hole became a popular concrete pools, but is still powered by a source through a labor Pit dug 35 feet. During the 1920s, the swimming has become part of the Deep Eddy bath on the beach, with cabins and camping areas that surround it. At that time, Lorraine was a very successful horse diving, diving with a horse and rider off a platform 50 feet in the water.

During the summer, a large screen in the film is scheduled for Splash Party Movie Nights, when movies were in favor of the family in the evening when the air is still warm enough to enjoy a night swim.
In Travis Heights, Stacy Pool is open all year round. The land was donated by the Society for Stacy Real Estate in 1929, and the pool was built by the Government the Works Progress Administration sponsored project in 1935. For those who love the water warmer than Barton Springs or Deep Eddy during the winter months water from the pool of Stacy is a mixture of water and 100 degree city and water pumped into the aquifer from Trinidad, resulting in a pool temperature around 80 degrees. The Senior residents use as a pool Travis Stacy meeting place to chat and exercise. Some families in the region have made over the past 80 years, generation after generation.
There are many neighborhood groups, such as Rosedale Ramsey pool, and ship Pool in Hyde Park, but there are several pools for children small parks located in the city. These pools, such as Clarksville in Clarksville pool and wading pool Eastwood, were mostly built in the 1930s and 40 as a place for children to cool off after a day of play in the park. Today, these pools are always a great place to take babies and toddlers and tend to be more distant, but most are only open from mid June to early August and will remain open every day for a few hours.
If the summer heat becomes too much, take a bath! Probably there is a pool nearby.
