The move to Austin, Texas. Any suggestions on neighborhoods?
Hi all, My partner and I moved to Austin, TX in about a month. Really want to live in cycling the distance from the center so that no two cars. I love the two-room houses / bungalows and green, leafy streets, and they really hate to condominiums elegant. I have a general idea of the geography of the city, but you have to find a place before proceeding. Can anyone suggest a neighborhood or area / region that resembles the we want? We have about $ 1300/mth to pay the rent, and the need to be close (ish) downtown cafes or cold.
Go south my sister! For the price range and location you mentioned in South Austin is the only way forward. It also has more room Community / Old Austin feel. There are some great neighborhoods off of Brodie, William Cannon, Westgate, Stassney, Emerald Forest, and other areas south of Ben White and west that will undoubtedly satisfy your needs. In addition, it is still only 10-15 minutes from downtown, and there are plenty of fresh, hole in the wall restaurants, bars and shops to enjoy. Although I disagree with the location L said, was right about buying versus renting. It's a buyer's market here, and if you are able to spend about $ 1300/month, then you should be building equity in your property, not to give money to an owner. Hope this helps and good luck for your move!
